Star Spangled Rice Krispie Treats On a Stick

Hey Bon Bon Rose gals! Jackie Fo, event/wedding planner and blogger here, it’s been a bit but I’m back sharing an adorable and EASY recipe activity that’s just perfect for kids and the 4th of July!

I don’t know how it is where you live, but it has been hot as you know what in my city and the last thing I want to do is bake! With easy to make rice krispy treats, there’s no baking involved and I’ve figured out a way to make them festive AND get the kiddos involved! Win-win!

star lollipops

Rice Krispy Treat Stars

Makes 12-20 stars (depending on how big your star cookie cutter is)

6 cups rice krispies cereal
3 tablespoons butter
10 oz. bag marshmallows

Decorating Supplies Star cookie cutter Red, white and blue sprinkles Colored Gels and icing Lollipop sticks (optional)

Melt the butter in a large sauce pan. Once melted, add in marshmallows and mix together. Add in rice krispies and coat with melted mixture.

Spray or grease a 9 by 13 glass pan. Pour rice krispy mixture into glass pan and spread flat with a spatula or piece of wax paper. Let cool completely before decorating.

For decorating, simply cut out star shapes using a star cookie cutter. You may need to use a knife to get around the edges of the cookie cutter. Then start decorating! Let the kids get creative with icing, sprinkles and stripes to make an American flag. Once finished, insert a lollipop stick into the bottom.

There you have it, an EASY (and delicious!) festive treat that takes less than 10 minutes to whip up but allows for lots of fun times for kiddos to get their creative juices flowing.

Happy 4th of July!
