I don’t know about you, but I live for summer vacation. Spring break is barely over and I’m already looking ahead to summer. Haha! And one thing I always pack for my vacays are books. Nothing is more relaxing than sipping on a tropical cocktail while getting whisked away by a riveting story. So, I’ve been making a list of the best summer reads 2019 edition.

I don’t mind using an e-reader, but there is something about holding an actual book in my hand that I just can’t quit. Plus, I love the look of fully stocked bookshelves, don’t you? A rainbow of colors decorating your space is perfection in my book. You probably wouldn’t be surprised if I told you I’ve always wanted to be a librarian would you? Maybe in another life. Bwah! In the meantime, I’ll enjoy digging into the new books I’ve been collecting thanks to Harlequin

Summer Reads to Take on Vacation

Harlequin titles have long had a special place in my heart. I remember digging into their romances when I was a teenager and dreaming about that great love I would find someday. Spoiler alert…I totally found him. I don’t know if you’d write a book about us, but I think our romance is pretty fabulous. Just sayin’. And while my reading tastes have expanded a bit since I was a teen, Harlequin still has plenty for me! And they have plenty for you too!

They’re experts at delivering some of the best books for women. I’m talking about thrillers, historical fiction, literary reads and so much more! Whether you’re spending your summer on the beach or you just need to decompress at home with a good cup of coffee, Harlequin has some of the best summer reads around!

So, let’s talk about what kinds of books I’ve been ready lately…As I’m currently raising a  young daughter, I’ve really been focused on strong female characters. I’m fascinated by journeys of female empowerment and bonding. I want my baby girl to feel empowered through every phase of her life. I try to live by example and surrounding myself with examples of strong women, including in book form, inspires me!

Take, for example, THE LADY FROM THE BLACK LAGOON by Mallory O’Meara. This page turner covers the life of the life and work of Milicent Patrick. She was one of Disney’s first female animators and the only woman ever to create a classic movie monster. And, in fact, a male colleague stole her work. She subsequently disappeared from history. Author, Mallory O’Meara, aimed to find out the true story of this forgotten feminist trailblazer and give her her due!

  1. Yes, there absolutely is something about an actual book. I like e-readers also but nothing beats a book. I have floor to ceiling bookshelves in my family room. Thanks for the reading suggestions!
