Testing Beautycounter Makeup

It’s a hard job but someone’s gotta do it! I’m talking about trying out new beauty products, something I’m enjoying more and more over time. And testing Beautycounter makeup, in particular, had been on my list for awhile. So, when a local Beautycounter consultant, and friend, invited me to an in-home party I was excited to go. I, of course, enjoyed mingling with my fellow Annapolis area ladies, but I really loved getting to see the products up close and personal. I had heard so many good things about Beautycounter, but when it comes to what I put on my skin, I need get up close and personal with products to see if they’re really for me.

If you haven’t heard of Beautycounter yet, you are sure to hear about them soon. While you can order Beautycounter products direct from the site, the line is also sold similar to something like Stella & Dot. Local consultants often host events and recruit consultants to sell the goods along with them. The reason this particular line had caught my eye is that it has a focus on ingredient safety, but with a look that is still luxurious. This is something that has been on my mind more and more lately, ingredient safety that is.

So, why should you try Beautycounter products? Well, I’ll tell you why I decided it was time I did. Until recently, I didn’t realize just how unregulated the beauty industry is in the US. While the EU has continued to ban and regulate ingredients regularly, the US puts the majority of that responsibility on the consumer. That can be a little tricky since I think, for the most part, as consumers we don’t realize how much we need to take the reigns with researching for ourselves. We have to recognize that ingredients in the beauty products we buy aren’t necessarily being closely monitored.

After researching and testing Beautycounter makeup, I was relieved that their founder, and a fellow concerned Mom, is doing just that with this brand. In fact, they have a no ingredient list that has over 1,500 ingredients that they won’t use in their products.

Now as important as the ingredients are to me, I’m also a sucker for pretty paired with function. Would safer makeup deliver in the looks department? How would it wear? I decided to purchase and try eyeshadow (I’m loving the Necessary Neutrals Eyeshadow Palette right now), as well as the Sheer Lipstick in Plum and the Lip gloss in Sienna. The products aren’t inexpensive so I wanted to test the waters with a few items before investing in more.

It’s weeks later and I’m happy to say that I’m loving all three. The lipstick goes on so nice and smooth. It isn’t a matte so it does need reapplying mid-day, but that doesn’t bother me as I just love the look and feel! The same goes for the lip gloss. I’ve been wearing it daily, both with and without lipstick. It’s smooth and not overly sticky (ya’ll know I can’t do sticky gloss! Ick!).

The eye duo is a fun combination that works so easily for day as well. I also like using the slate with a fine brush to line my lids for a smoky look. Sometimes I simply don’t want to mess with eyeliner. You know? Hey, mama’s busy over here! Haha!

As you can see, I’m giving my Beautycounter experience two thumbs up. Testing Beautycounter makeup has been great and I’m definitely planning on buying some more of their products very soon. I think next up will be their sunscreen and foundation since those are items that cover a lot of skin and ones I’ll definitely need for the upcoming warm weather seasons. I know setting aside money in your budget for quality makeup skincare can be tough sometimes, but if you can feel great about the products that you’re applying, it’s well worth the extra dollars. Just skip the mid day coffee breaks and you’ll make up those funds in no time. Bwah! Seriously, we stopped using coffee pods, for the most part, and have saved a bundle, but I digress…

Knowing these products are created with safety in mind first has given this beauty junkie a huge sigh of relief. It’s definitely something I can get behind! So, have you tried it? If not, it’s time! And if you want to find out more about the company before you take out that credit card, or talk to a Beautycounter consultant, just message me and I am happy to put you in touch with mine.
