A Sneak Peek at a Stunning Southern Home
Don’t forget to enter our Kate Spade and House of Harlow giveaways!
When I was in Florida a few weeks ago I was able to visit with a friend of my Mom’s, Paulette. She is one of those great women who are so warm and nurturing that you instantly want to pull up a chair on her back porch with a glass of lemonade and swap stories. In addition to being all around fabulous herself, she also happens to have a home that would make any southern girl drool and she generously offered up photos to share with us all. So pour yourself a glass of lemonade and pull up a chair, we’re going in!
The tone is one of comfort and grace, and is set immediately with the winding entrance and draping tree boughs.

The traditional brick front is complete with dormer windows on top, painted shutters, and sweeping curtains peeking out from every window. I also love the large palm just to the left, a great indicator that you are still in Florida!

A bright tray of green apples sits temptingly on a coffee table next to floor to ceiling built-ins and a cozy brick fireplace. Paulette is also a believer in one of my favorite design tricks, grouping books by color!

As a woman with friends a plenty, this living room is the perfect place to end an evening with coffee and desert (ok, it’s nice enough that I think we can even call it a parlor, wow!). I can almost envision a large southern soiree, can’t you?

Everyone needs a comfortable place to read the paper and have coffee, yet even here the feeling is warm and cozy yet elegant all at the same time.

A large green lawn sits behind the home, perfect for events, like her daughter’s wedding that I attended a handful of years ago. Something tells me this might require a riding lawnmower…

Nothing evokes my love of Florida more than a dock on a lake. Being such a lover of water, just taking a book and blanket out on that dock is my perfect piece of heaven. Ok, maybe also with a piece of chocolate cake!
A huge thanks to Paulette for sharing her home with us!

What a lovely blog! It’s my first time here and I really like it!

I’ve always wanted to live in a home like that. See, I said “home.” This manse could never be considered just a plain old “house.”
Amazing house, lucky people!!

Wow that house is to die for!! My house is like an EXTREMELY mini version of that one 😉 with brick and dormers – on a much smaller scale, hahah. Maybe one day….
