Cleaning Hack: Alternative Uses for Dawn

If you know me in real life, you know that cleaning isn’t exactly my favorite way to pass the time. Thankfully, we have a lovely woman that comes in to help with the heavy lifting, but I still need to take care of the small stuff and that includes kitchen clean up. One of my favorite things to do is sit down with my family for a lovely brunch on the weekends. With school and work, our mornings are so hurried during the week. So, being able to connect over a delicious meal on the weekend is priceless to me. More often than not, we have a breakfast casserole. We used to reserve it for holiday mornings, but a few years back we decided that there was no reason why any morning couldn’t be special enough for our beloved casserole.

As much as I love it, it can be a bit messy to prepare. One of the main ingredients is sausage and you all know how greasy sausage can be. It never fails that when I’m draining off that grease, some spills onto my kitchen counter. Sure, there is no shortage of specialty, grease cutting cleaning products that I could be, but I like to keep things as simple as possible in my kitchen. Luckily, there are multi-purpose products that make that simplicity possible and we’ve been asked to share one with you today! Enter Dawn

If you think Dawn can only be used to wash dishes in the sink…think again. There are many alternative uses for Dawn in the kitchen and one of them is cleaning kitchen surfaces! All you have to do is squirt a bit of Dawn on a sponge, run it under some warm water and then clean up your greasy spill. You’ll marvel at how Dawn cuts that grease. When you’re finished, wipe your surface down with a paper towel and it will be sparkling clean!

  1. Dawn is awesome. I use it to clean my shower. It does a great job, and it doesn’t have that acrid scent that bathroom cleaners have.

  3. My absolute worst kitchen cleaning job is cleaing my range stovetop. It’s a gas stove with the metal grates on top and cleaning the grease off that sucker at least once every two weeks is such a time consuming pain!

  5. My Mom always, ALWAYS used Dawn- even when times were tough. She told us that it didn’t save any money to buy something that didn’t work! I use it for everything. it’s PERFECT for washing the bedding for our foster animals. I simply add a small squirt to the washer. Comes out clean every time!

  7. Cleaning is not my favorite past time but like you say it needs to be done. I must compliment the nails, love the brown polish. Some dish detergents take off the polish right off on contact, I like using the ones that don’t wipe out the nail polish : )

  9. I always have a bottle on hand during the summer months – not for dishes though. I save this bottle for – if and when – one of our animals gets a little too close to a skunk. Plus – it’s there if one gets near any poison ivy/oak/sumac. If you get to the area fast enough with the Dawn – it will break up the oils in the poisonous plants.

  15. Worst kitchen cleaning job would have to be washing dishes, since we don’t have a dishwasher so I wash them all by hand! It’s just time consuming and has to be done a couple times a day. But Dawn does make it easier; helps cut grease off pots and pans!
