Fall Fashion Trend: Military Chic

Happy Monday! Fingers crossed you all had lovely weekends! I hope I’m not jinxing myself here, but I think I might just be on the mend. Boy do summer colds stink. Although, it was a bit of a bummer spending the weekend in bed, I was able to spend quite a bit of time catching up on my favorite sites and glossies reading! There’s a silver lining in everything if you look hard enough right…but I digress. And it also gave me time to think about the next hot trend I want to tackle, military chic.

I haven’t written about today’s subject yet, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been obsessing over how I’m going to incorporate it into my wardrobe. HA! Military chic has been front and center for a while as it graced many of the Fall runways and it looks like there is still steam left in this trend! It was in practically every fashion rag I picked up this weekend. I’ve personally been lovin’ it ever since I saw Rachel Bilson step out in a Gap boys’ military jacket many moons ago. She was seen all over the place in that bad boy and I can see why. It’s so darn ute. Oh, to be that precious and teeny tiny. Le sigh.

We might not all be able to shop in the kids department, but there are plenty of military inspired pieces that are available to us! So, tell me lovelies…Will you be workin’ the military chic trend? And may I suggest that you pair it with sequins if you do? Can’t you just see a military jacket and sequin skirt combo? Even if you aren’t ready to go all out with a sequin bedecked bod, pick something feminine and pair it with your military find. The contrast will be killer. I promise!

On that note, I thought I would share a couple more fun ways to wear military chic…And away we go!

I was just thinking about buying a military jacket the other day. It’s seems so comfy on breezy days…
    Great minds think alike! 🙂

There are some very lovely items here and I really like the shirts. Military is very stylish at the moment. I have a few military items myself but they are all in navy blue.

I have some military green shirts and dresses that I’ll have to wear this fall! I’ve seen some great pieces in the stores as well!

  4. Jen says

Is it just me or is this an 80’s flashback? The camo pants were big when I was in high school. I guess everything that goes around comes around.

  5. Screen Door Prep says

I *love* when the “military trend” is in. I don’t think I’ll ever be bold enough to do military+sequins, but I have seen a spread or two recently that makes the combo super-appealing. Maybe if I were five years younger…

I do always love to mix the military pieces w/ really feminine, floral, flowy pieces…as well as classic preppy basics, if I’m feeling less than inspired to be creative. But I am pretty careful to keep the *really* military-feeling pieces to one-per-outfit…only one army green piece, or one camo, or one studded piece, at a time. & I prefer my camo pieces paired w/ brighter colors, or w/ some fun feminine detailing on them.

    Have a great week!

I was thinking “I don’t like military chic” and then I saw the Joe Jeans… Hem. I am wearing a fuller-cut legged version of the same. They’re OLD. I told myself the last time I wore them to work (CASUAL doesn’t even define how relaxed we are here at inlaw land) that they’re missing TWO buttons, looking old and need to be retired.

Maybe instead, I’ll have all the buttons replaced and wear them into the fall…

I didn’t think I’d like it… when I first saw the header I thought “hum… I’m not so sure about this one” but it’s soo cute! and perfect color for fall!

  8. Leia says

I think I’m the only one who’s not feelin’ the military trend! I think it’s because the khaki color doesn’t do any favors for my skintone?!

  9. Kate (southern-belle-simple) says

i really love this military trend….now it means my southern beau is actually in style when he insists on wearing his camouflage shorts….kidding, kidding…he knows i dearly love him! but now i can join in the fun!

oh and by the way, the bon bon rose gals are fab and i’m so glad to be a part of this sweet little circle! happy monday! hope all sickness has passed!

  10. Vic says

We must have been thinking the same:) I was going to do the VS ones this week. I still will since you didn’t include them….I actually dig the look too…maybe for Saturday!:)

I have been loving the military trend since it first made a comeback a few seasons ago. I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect military inspired winter coat for this winter, so fingers crossed! and i’m just loving these items you have shown here, especially that tunic with the big buttons!

  12. Allison says

I absolutely am dying over that DVF dress! It’s beautiful 🙂 This trend is lovely, and I’m glad that the military look means more than just tons of camo layered on top of the other. Beautiful looks, can’t wait for a Champagne Saturday!

Diane von Furstenberg’s designs are always so flattering. One of these days I’ll have to splurge and pick up one of her timeless wrap dresses. Military styling always gets my interest

  14. Casee Marie says

You know, I’ve never really been into the military trend, but I LOVE that top from Eyeshadow! And the idea of pairing sequins with the military look is absolutely brilliant. I might have to give it a try 🙂

  15. MizzJ says

Agreed, a mix of girly and military looks awesome! I’ve seen some bloggers really rock the military shirt with a minidress. It’s a look I’m curious to try!

  16. Anna says

Love this trend too! I’m happy the sort of army green cargo pant for ladies is making a comeback.

Happy the site is back up and that you are feeling better!! xo

  17. Bunny says

I love this look. I have been ‘over’ wearing my green cargos from Jcrew so much they are ripping and fraying! I love them with a tea shirt and amazing shoes!

  18. Jessica says

Aha! There must have been a reason I was lame at catching up on blogs: just last night I decided I “need” a military shirt and that Delia’s one is perfection. Thanks!
