You know that old business saying, “You are only as good as your weakest link.”? Well, for mom life, I’m changing it up to say, “You are only as good as your last night’s sleep”.

When I’ve had a night of great sleep I’m exponentially more patient with my family. It provides me with more energy to play and take on the long list of the day’s tasks. But after a rough night’s sleep, and trust me, I’ve had many, I’m crabby and sluggish all day long. Basically it becomes just surviving until bedtime. Turning off all electronics leading up to bedtime helps relax my mind, a solid window of 7-8 hours to sleep, and a pillow that is truly comfortable all night long are essential for me to wake up rejuvenated and ready to take on the day.

  1. What always works for me is meditation before bed. Also, if you can’t sleep, get up out of bed and read for a while. Don’t go back until you are ready to sleep.

  2. Make the most of every day and by the end, you’ll be so tired that you’ll fall asleep fast and sleep through the night.

  3. My best tip is to do a bit of exercise about an hour before going to bed. It will tire you out and is good for you.

  4. Switch your electronic devices to “nighttime” mode so they emit less of the light rays that keep you awake.

  5. I listen to sleep stories on the Calm meditation app. Works wonders! Anything to really clear my mind and stop overthinking. Small doses of melatonin on occasion too

  6. Exercise is the best thing for a good nights sleep! i always sleep better when i exercise early in the day!

  7. I count my blessings every night when I get in bed. Going to sleep feeling lucky and fortunate always helps me rest well.

  8. My sleep is usually terrible so I may not be the best to give tips but, the one thing I try to do consistently is go to bed at the same time.

  9. My tips would be ensuring the room is completely dark, and keeping the temperature cool while layering blankets for warmth if needed!
