Kicking off the Holiday Decorating
After the whirlwind of family that hit our house this past weekend, the poor girl is looking a little rough. And while we had a blast playing games and stuffing ourselves, the reality of laundry and dishes looms large. Bleh. So until I get my act together and get organized I can’t really get all the decorations out. However, I did pick up a few things at Michaels (with the help of two lovely ladies) to kick start the holiday season. Here’s what I’ve got so far.
This champagne colored garland we all fell in love with. I may add some more fun stuff to the mantel, but in the meantime, we are keeping it classy!
I thought this Santa themed tin bucket would be a cute place to store mail and holiday cards on the counter. But wham! It’s alter ego as a festive wine bucket at parties is just waiting to get out!
And of course my holiday ornament glass jar from last week’s video, has made an appearance. Other than that we are waiting it out until the laundry piles have vanished, along with the leftovers. So how about it? Has anyone else started their holiday decorating? Any die-hards who do their tree the day after Thanksgiving? Do tell!

SO cute! I love that garland – beautiful!
We haven’t started decorating yet…I WANT to in a very bad way!!! BUT we don’t have a tree yet =/ SO I will wait until then…maybe tonight — DEFINITELY this weekend!
i keep adding to my decorating. its never going to end!
I have fallen in love with that Santa bucket now! I have seen some gorgeous santa belly baubles this year but I adore this and could put it to a million uses!! Gorgeous!
xx
I absolutely love your mantle. I always do something similar with our stockings too. I have not done anything yet. I still have to clear out our fall decorations. I am hoping to have done that done by the weekend so we can spend next week decorating! I am so excited to decorate!!!
I’m right there with ya… slowly climbing out of the black hole of Thanksgiving-hosting. Decorations will need to wait!
I’m one of those sad types who can never think that far ahead – I’m soo impressed you’ve got the mantel a trimmed and pretty. (That is also one of the cutest buckets I’ve ever seen!)
love the bouquet, so cute!!
That santa bucket is so cute! I want one! I told myself I would decorate on Thanksgiving because my family celebrated on Saturday instead of Thursday. But that didn’t happen. I’m really hoping to put up the tree and at least start the process tonight. We’ll see if it works out!

Yep. We are a day after Thanksgiving family over here but this year we went away for Thanksgiving so we are only half way done with the trees and haven’t started the rest of it yet. Love your garland makes me wish I had a fireplace.
I love how calm and classy your mantel looks! And that Santa bucket is a kick 🙂 I already have all my Christmas decorations up, except for the tree – and we’re getting that soon! I like to make the holiday season last for as long as possible.

I do love the garland! Beautiful. Do tell: how do you plan to get rid of the laundry piles??
I’m dying to decorate but can’t wrap my head around it yet! The pumpkins did finally get trashed today, though and we’re planning to get our tree if it stops raining! 🙂
I Love how the garland is elegant yet understated…perfect for those who love neutral tones!

I got the whole house done this weekend!
Our tree is sitting bare in our living room…and has been that way since Thursday. You’re light years ahead of us! xoxo
Hooray for decorating! Love the garland! I always decorate the day after Thanksgiving with a wooden Santa, little trees, green garland, and candles. I tend to be traditional with my Christmas decor.
We haven’t even started decorating yet — I LOVE the champagne colored garland! It’s simple, and yet so chic 🙂
Gor-geous! And that bucket is adorable (especially with the December Bon Appetit sticking out – love it!).
Pretty garland! I just made the first holiday decoration, a burlap wreath.
This is so pretty! I really love that sparkly garland! The bucket is cute too. And I’ve started decorating already 🙂

That garland is great, I need to visit Michaels soon and stock up for this holiday season 🙂
Very chic garland! Love the color too!
Love the garland! Have you checked out the recipe for that cake on the cover of bon appetit? Just the ingredients fill a full page!
This is my kind of Christmas decorating! Festive, but subtle enough to be oh so classy. Can you come decorate my house please?
Love the Santa bucket. So far, I only have a wreath on the door, but I plan to stuff a jar w/ white mini-lights (saw this on another blog) and some greens.
Our house is so decked out already, but MAN am I missing that Santa bucket! Although I think that it would be a champagne bucket that would only moonlight as a magazine holder… 🙂
SO SO SO beautiful!!!!! Elegant, yet understated. love it!
Love the garland!
the garland is gorgeous!!

Love seeing you getting a headstart on your decorating. We had fun going and buying a tree and some lights and decorations last weekend. We convinced my parents to put up a tree in their house since we will all be back there in a few weeks again!
That Santa bucket is beyond adorable. I need to get to Michael’s stat!
the garland is such a lovely festive touch to the mantel – love it!
… and no tree yet for us, not until 11th. All we do after thanksgiving is get the candles out for the windows. And while they are out, they aren’t actually in the windows yet…
Everything looks great, the fireplace makes me feel cozy warm just looking at it and everything else is darling too! I am now in the Christmas mood. 🙂

Wow – those decorations are beautiful!!
I started to decorate the day after Thanksgiving. I love to place holiday decorations all throughout the house, so I get an early start. It’s still a work in progress and the wind just blew over my little Charlie Brown Christmas tree that was on my porch. Boo Hoo. I love your Santa bucket…what a cute way to store magazines.
that garland is so me…it’s exactly what i’ve been looking for.
I love the garland and the bucket. Seriously, I want the bucket!
I like the santa tin, too cute!
