We are all about that pumpkin. Its kind of like being “all about that base” but even more fun than that! Truly both Kristin and I can’t get enough of pumpkin flavored things, so you know we just had to go there when we got together a few weeks ago. We also have a deep love for boozy milkshakes so a Pumpkin Bourbon Milkshake was inevitable. I mean if you had to define our friendship in food form it might just be a boozy milkshake, trumped only by coffee.
This milkshake is a great way to spread your seasonal pumpkin love around a bit. It can’t all be PSL you know. And if you want to share with the kids just make a version without the bourbon and I promise it will still work and be a huge hit. Jake loves making smoothies and milkshakes and they are an easy way to get him helping in the kitchen and talking through a recipe. Ok, here’s the scoop!
Ingredients
Milkshake
2 cups vanilla ice cream
1/2 cup milk
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
2/3 cup pureed pumpkin
1/2 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice
Topping
Canned whipped cream
2-3 ounces of bourbon (A generous pour. Wink Wink!)
melted chocolate chips to rim glasses
crushed peanut butter candies
Directions
Add the milkshake ingredients to a blender and blend until just thoroughly mixed. Rim glasses with melted chocolate either dipping upside down in a bowl or using a small brush. Sprinkle with crushed candies. Pour in the milkshake and top generously with whipped cream. Enjoy!
So that’s what we’re cooking up this month. A few of these and a skype session are just what two best friends need on a brisk fall night! Leave me alone kids, mama’s talking celebrity gossip with Aunt K! Just kidding. I’ll wait until they go to bed. 🙂
