I’m feeling the love for Valentine’s Day! This week, I helped Jake make DIY microphone valentines for some of his special friends. This was a great way to not only talk about how we can show our friends we care, it was also such a sweet way to spend a snowy afternoon. Of course, you know we incorporated some of our favorite treats such as the Hershey’s Kisses

After talking through some fun options, we decided to make our own DIY microphones. We’ve been really into singing around here, as well as reporting the news, so this was perfect. Here’s how we made the microphone:

DIY Microphone Directions: To make our microphones, I used 2-inch foam balls. We then wrapped them tightly in aluminum foil. This made a quick and easy perfect microphone top. Next, black paper was rolled into cones and tapped into place. For the finishing touch I used strips of gold craft tape for a little fun flair. To secure the silver balls you can use a hot glue gun, lots of tape or just make it a snug fit.

For the valentines, there are so many fun saying you can use. Of course “Wild Thing, You Make My Heart Sing!” is a classic, but you can also use “Have you heard the news? I love you!” and so many countless others. Get creative and change it up for each valentine if you want!
We then filled our bags with delicious Hershey’s Valentine’s Candy. Our fave! Even more messages of love to share! Cute red ribbon tied in a bow to seal our bags was the finishing touch. You can then just slide the microphone into place with the ribbon.
I’d say his friends are going to be singing about these all day long, ha!

That’s our special Valentine’s this year. How about you? Are you celebrating with Hershey’s and feeling the #HSYMessageOfLove? What crafts are you up to for the special day?!
