Every year I gravitate towards a basic nautical summer look. This year has been no different and I’ve updated my nautical inspired basics just in time to wear all summer long!
One of the best things about living in Annapolis, Maryland is the accessibility of water and boat life. And, yes, that includes crabs and my favorite dockside bars. With so much of our summer revolving around the water, it’s not surprising that the whole town seems to take on a relaxed nautical vibe. It’s certainly overall a preppy place but, in a way, that is very casual. That means that I have to update those nautical basics pretty much every summer, and this one was no exception. I have word for you. Stripes. I live for stripes.
Basic Nautical Summer Look
When I saw this navy and white striped J. Crew perfect tee, I knew it would instantly be a closet staple. It has a great thickness to it that will stand up to the many washings it will surely get. And the length works both tucked in or left out. It truly is a perfect tee and priced affordably, which is always a bonus!
Another hot topic among us ladies everywhere is shorts. And finding the elusive pair is kind of like finding a unicorn. When these denim cut-offs came in my Stitch Fix box I had to keep them. I’ve found these that are similar and fit just as well. I’m pretty tall so having them be little longer is both comfortable and fits with the season’s Bermuda trend. I also love that I can wear them as pure raw denim cutoffs or roll them up for a more tailored look. Options, people. I’m all about options. They are definitely a win and add to that basic nautical summer look I’m going for.
Must-Have Summer Accessories for Moms
Also, new for me this season were these fun Stella & Dot sunglasses. My friend Ashley sent me a link to them since they are on final sale and I knew they had to be mine! I am loving the change from my normal Ray Bans. A girl has to switch things up every now and again. Am I right?
And to complete my basic nautical look, this round straw tote (similar linked) that has been on major rotation and my go-to Tory Burch Miller sandals. They were a splurge last year and are so comfortable I can’t imagine not wearing them on the daily. I know a lot of people wonder if they’re comfy and, for me, they are. So, there you go!
Now that we have a basic nautical look ready to go, all that’s left is to get out there and enjoy summer! Who needs to waste time trying to pick out an outfit when that beautiful water is just out there waiting for us?!
