If you’re looking for a sweet and simple Fourth of July treat, read on. We shared how to make these easy red, white and blue ice cream sandwiches!

It’s nearly July and summer magic is in full effect. Our family is thriving on lazy pool days and frosty treats. There’s nothing quite like an ice cold ice cream sandwich on a hot summer day…Am I right? They’re in our freezer at all times these days and, as I recently found out, they make a fabulously festive Fourth of July dessert! All you have to do is dress them up a little to make them perfectly patriotic! You know how much we love a nice and easy hack around these parts…

Easy Fourth of July Dessert Hack

Seriously, I just love simple tricks to make holiday treats even more special. These red, white and blue ice cream sandwiches are just that. They’re a quick way to serve up something fun for the 4th of July. I actually do enjoying cooking and making things from scratch, but I’m finding that increasingly hard with both kids underfoot. I literally get distracted or asked a question so many times in the middle of cooking dinner or lunch, that I’m starting to lose faith in my ability in the kitchen. Just kidding. Kind of. Bwah! Yesterday I burnt a grilled cheese sandwich due to having a certain someone needing something RIGHT NOW! It’s always urgent isn’t it? Haha!

Now, while ordinarily I would be all, “Look at these delicious homemade ice cream sandwiches I made.” The place I’m at in life right now is more, “Hey! Here’s a quick and dirty secret on how to make store bought ice cream sandwiches snazzy!” Because sometimes we just don’t have the time or the desire to spend our afternoon in the kitchen. We’d rather be living our best life sipping on sparkling water and floating in our pool. Ahhhhh, bliss…

So, here’s the breakdown on how to impress your friends in 5 minutes or less.

Right before eating, unwrap your ice cream sandwiches.

On a plate swirl red sprinkles and blue sprinkles for an even mix.

Gently dip each side of the ice cream sandwich into the sprinkles and create your pretty red, white and blue ice cream sandwiches.

Act surprised when everyone is all, “You are SOOO amazing, how did you ever do this?!” Ha!

Just remember they are ice cream so they will melt, duh. If you need to make them in advance, place them on a tray lined with parchment paper in the freezer immediately after sprinkling. Then you can serve them when they’re still icy!

I love adding festive little touches to our  holiday celebrations and these are perfect for when you are hosting a 4th of July party or event. So, what else are you bringing to your summer barbecues lovelies? I need more life hacks. This mama is all about easy right now!
