Who out there in our little tribe is also feeling the need for a January pick-me-up? I know I sure am! These cold dark days always have me feeling a little blah. It’s not uncommon for me to give myself a pep talk. It normally focuses on how the light each day from here on out is getting a little longer. A few more minutes of sun. And yes strangers in the car next to me think I’m crazy. Thank goodness for retail therapy. Sometimes it’s just what the doctor ordered. Shopbop always seems to have what we need, but more on that later! Let’s get back to the longest month of the year. Haha!
White Lace Top
Overall I find January a hard time to get inspired by fashion. So, I’m choosing to focus on the sweet love-filled days of February. Pinks, reds, and romantic details like this sweet lace top are helping me fight the winter blues.
February is a great time to plan a date night or two, and it’s also my birthday month, so I keep that calendar bust. It’s a great way to get excited to pull together fun looks. While it’s still definitely winter out, a few not-so-heavy pieces, paired with a coat work great.
Now lets talk about this lace top. When I was in NYC last month I popped into the GAP. I know, of all the places I went to a store I can visit at home, but it was cold and the sale sign was beckoning. After trying on several things I spied this white lace detailed blouse. It was a total bargain and I liked that it felt different than all of the black sweaters stacked in my closet.
Don’t you just love how the neckline goes a little higher? Plus it is just long enough to do a little front tuck to help give shape to what is otherwise a wide silhouette.
Accessories that Go With a White Lace Top
I also found this pale pink calf-hair belt that was on sale for $6. Talk about a must-have accessory! I think pairing the two works great for a sweet Valentine’s look.
The light brown suede pumps give this look a dressed up vibe and if you have any fun heels in the back of your closet now is the time. This would work with almost any of them!
Of course the temperatures aren’t quite this forgiving here in Maryland. Can you tell from my slightly pink nose and not quite in focus photo below?! So while I took these photos coat-free to show off the details, even my camera wasn’t happy! I would be sure to add a wool coat and pretty scarf. Then I could wear this look to a birthday dinner and feel warm and fabulous without being bogged down by a big ol’ sweater.
