Easy Father’s Day Picnic with Cocktails

Dad deserves the best doesn’t he? My honey sure does. It’s been an insane few months and he’s taken things in stride and made us all feel more at ease. Being that we stayed home together most of spring, that’s really saying something. Haha!

All that together time didn’t take away that sense of humor I fell in love with thank goodness. Sure, we’ve all had our moments. You can’t be around each other 24/7 for weeks on end and not have tough times.

But, for the most part, we relished the time we had to reconnect as a family. That being said, he and I are overdue for some parents only time. Bwah!

So, after we spend the day with the kids on Father’s Day, most likely golfing, we’ll send them off to bed and enjoy a tv binge sesh along with a little picnic with cocktails.

Super Simple Old Fashioned Drink Recipe 

Now what kind of cocktail would be just perfect for a Father’s Day picnic at home? How about a nice, cold Old Fashioned cocktail? I’ve definitely been known to sip on one from time to time, as has my fella.

You can’t beat that refreshing hint of orange in my book! And let’s not forget about the spice. Mmmm! The only thing that keeps me from making these drinks regularly is all the steps.

Thank goodness for DeKuyper Classic Ol’ Fashion liqueur. They gave us a practically effortless way to make the classic Old Fashioned cocktail!

Seriously. Thanks to it, I can make it a two step drink. If you know anything about me, you know I love cutting out steps wherever I can. Haha!

I know I’m not the only one right? So, if I told you that you can throw together a classic, old fashioned night in, in mere minutes, wouldn’t you be for a Father’s Day picnic with cocktails at home?

All you need to make the drinks for your Father’s Day picnic with cocktails is DeKuyper Classic Ol’ Fashion liqueur and bourbon. Simply combine the two, stir and enjoy!

You can also add orange peel and cherries if you so desire. I did! At home bartending has never been easier my friends!

So, how do you set up a Father’s Day picnic with cocktails? First, let’s talk ambiance…After a full day with the kids, I know my hubs is going to want to relax, so I’m going for a comfy, cozy vibe. That means squishy throw pillows and a cozy knit blanket.

As for the picnic spread, you could set it all out on a blanket on the floor, or you could use your coffee table like I did. We’re runners. Our knees get a lot of action, so we prefer the couch to the floor. Haha!

Don’t put too much pressure on yourself. I promise your partner only sees the effort, not the aesthetics. But if you’re like me and you still want to make things look cute, a plastic tablecloth, a glass full of flowers and paper plates work just fine.

Now your picnic is almost ready! All you have to do is set out some tasty snacks and you’re all set! I went with a chocolate popcorn mix and fruit, but there are no rules here. Just serve up Dad’s favorites!
